We like, like, like our Ergo! It is fantastic when the stroller just isn’t an option of when I need to have my hands free. My son cuddles up and falls asleep nearly instantly. It does get uncomfortably warm for both of us in the summer, but I’m not certain there’s anything to be done about this. All in all, the Ergo is one of our very best and most useful baby buys.

I have used this for months, so i can’t give it one star. but compared to my wife’s original ergo, this (the only carrier a stout dad like me can use) is very poorly designed. the aeration slit/flap is useless and annoying (it necessitates moving the supporting straps to a less useful position), the elastic hoodie straps are dreadful and very hard to attach when needed, the back straps-and-clip are also hard to attach and annoyingly prone to getting stuck/tangled. the belt clip has a tendency to only engage halfway. the thick waist strap also gets twisted out of shape. it’s also black, fantastic for (theoretically) assuaging male insecurities, but really heat-retaining in summer. useful, but could have been so, so much better.

It’s fantastic only if your baby likes it

I registered for this Ergo carrier after a friend of mine recommended it to me and I received it for my baby shower. I read so many fantastic reviews for it and loved the fact that I could carry my baby in front, in back, and on the hip with it- as opposed to the Bjorn which I can only carry in the front. I knew that I could only carry the baby facing me when carried in the front position, but since I figured I’d be able to use it also when the baby’s older and carry him on my back or on my hip, I chose to sacrifice that feature. I saw so many of my friends use it too and their babies seemed to really like being in it. I also ordered the infant insert to go with it.

My baby boy liked being in the Ergo with the infant insert the first couple of weeks I place him in it. It was simple to place on and felt comfortable. I like the Sport carrier because my husband could use it as well. When my baby was in it with the infant insert, it was like he was sitting in the insert and his legs would be in front of my stomach. It wasn’t that huge of a deal in the beginning until he got really huge. I couldn’t use the infant insert anymore, but he despised spreading his legs so that they would stick out of the sides of the carrier. I’d be able to get one leg out, but then the other leg would be hitting my stomach. He’s not huge enough yet to spread his legs out all the way out the sides. The Bjorn has holes for the legs to go straight down. I reckon my baby would probably be better in that right now.

My friends like the Ergo, and I like it too- but my baby’s not a huge fan of it right now. I’m hoping that once he’s larger, he’ll like it. I’m going to keep trying to use it, but unfortunately, he’s at the ackward stage and isn’t really comfortable in it.

Even though our baby is perfectly content while in the Ergo Baby Sport, we have several complaints about it. First of all, you have to buy the infant insert separately. I guess we missed that small detail. I reckon it should come with it. We ordered it once we figured it out, and our small guy liked that for a few weeks but then chose it was not his cup of tea. It is very swaddle-like (which he grew to despise after a few weeks), and I can see why some babies would just stay in it for hours. Our son did the first few times, but after about five weeks, he did not like the insert anymore and was still too small for the carrier without the insert. He is now four months, and fits in the carrier just fine without the insert. Since he likes it just fine for small amounts of time, we chose to test it on a day trip of exploring. He didn’t complain once, but I found several issues with the product. Yes, there is a cover that is in the pocket that you can use if the baby is facing you. But, since he was strapped to the front of me and facing out, the cover did absolutely no excellent. I had to hold a map over his head to keep the sun from hitting him as we strolled around. Maybe there is a trick to this that I don’t know about. Second, the carrier does not have a place to store anything…like keys, phone, or anything else you might need. It seems like they could have attached another pocket on the body of the carrier to make it simpler on parents. Third, I’m pretty sure that my son’s circulation was cut off after about an hour in the carrier. His legs and feet didn’t look the right color; they were purple. So, we took him out of it immediately. So, while the carrier is very comfortable to wear and seems to not bother our small guy, I do reckon the design could use a few revisions. I’m hoping Ergo will take the thoughts of its critics to heart and design a new carrier that meets everyone’s needs and keeps the baby safe.

    Fantastic carrier
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We chose to try an Ergo Baby for our second child on the recommendation of a friend. The sling we bought to use with our first child never really worked out that well for us. It wasn’t terribly comfortable for us or for her. The Ergo Baby, on the other hand, is pretty fantastic. I appreciate that it’s so well made with nice wide and widely adjustable straps. The buckles and snaps seem to be very excellent quality and sturdy, and I appreciate the small thoughtful touches like the elastic sewn to the ends of the straps so you can wind up and contain the excess strap rather than have it flapping all around you.

It’s really simple to pick up the baby using the infant insert and get the carrier strapped on by myself. It’s also wonderfully simple to lay baby down once they’re asleep. The insert makes a huge difference there, but give credit to the design of the carrier, too. I have only used the front carry so far because that’s the simplest to manage single-handed, but I am looking forward to trying the back and side carry at some point. I’m also going to be interested to get our 35-pounder up in the seat and see how comfortable that is.

Fantastic design, excellent, solid construction, and Made in America. Win, win, win.

Truly the best baby carrier (we had the Moby Wrap before this) and our (newborn) baby easily falls asleep within minutes of being strapped into the (infant insert and) carrier. It seemed awkward to place on at first, and I wasn’t sure I’d be able to snap the back clasp by myself, but after you get the hang of it, you end up putting it on pretty quickly. And putting it on quickly is an essential feature when you have a crying baby! This carrier gives me both hands back around the house and is fantastic when we’re out and our small guy is sick of being in his car seat/stroller. It’s worth every penny!

With the infant insert it does make it a bit warm – something to consider if you live in a warm and/or humid climate.

I have both the ergo sport and the ergo organic. The fabric is very soft for both products. The sport but lacks a pocket like the original. The snaps for the hood can be felt through the thinner fabric. The hood for the original easily snaps at the top of the straps but the sport has hooks that are supposed to hook to the D ring in the back shoulder straps…. It is very hard to hook them as they are on your back… Both are very comfy the wear…

Excellent carrier, misleading colors. Ergo vs Moby for newborns review
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
I am using this as I type this review w/ my 3 week ancient daughter. We also have a Moby.

The Ergo only offers one hold to carry an infant, the front carry where the baby is facing your chest. The Moby has the same hold, plus offers a side carrying position, which my daughter seems to prefer. The problem with the Moby front hold is that the small baby is really pasted to your chest where she gets overly warm, can’t see anything. She often fights this position. I only seem to get away with it when she is very sleepy and even then she ends up waking up because she gets too hot. I even bought the Moby-D which has a silk panel that I thought might make things cooler for her, but no dice.

Now this Ergo seems to be a bit more spacious for her and not as hot in the forward facing position. She can lie back in the carrier and I can bounce her and she drifts off to sleep. And this bouncing is not hurting my back (yet). She is certainly cooler than she is in the Moby. Still the infant insert is highly padded and I wouldn’t be surprised if she does end up getting too hot.

Now when I place my baby in Moby side facing Cradle hold, she often likes that but I’m always worried that she doesn’t have enough head support, so I’ll end up not really putting her head in tightly and using my arm to support her head instead, so I end up not being hands free, but rather only 1 arm free.

Finally, I never could figure out how to nurse in the Moby. The instruction book claimed it was possible to nurse a newborn but I just couldn’t figure out the head support situation, never mind I couldn’t get her low enough.

I have to say, It was much simpler to nurse in the Ergo. Simple to switch between nursing position and regular just by pulling on straps. I am needing to use one hand still but this much better than nothing.

Also, it is certainly quicker to get the Ergo on than to get the Moby on. Finally, the Ergo seems simpler on the back than the Moby.

I will say in the Moby, she seems to sleep for longer periods of time and while the Moby cradle hold makes me a wee bit nervous for my 7 lb baby, she can see more of her environment and for those times when I can’t get her to accept the confinement of the Ergo, I can get her into the Moby cradle hold. I reckon maybe she likes the Moby better and I like the Ergo better.

I find it useful to have both carriers

Oh, regarding the colors. This sport carrier is just black. No camel lining. Furthermore the “natural” colored insert is certainly peach colored. This coloring is not a winner for the guys. Peach and black is really not a excellent combo for anyone. It would have been so much better to get the grey insert, which I would have done if it was not misleadingly advertised as having a camel lining.

    Comfortable for everyone!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I really like this carrier! So far (baby is 16 lbs) it is comfortable to wear for me and my husband, and our small one seems quite pleased too! I can see why some people say it is hard to get on, although I haven’t found it to be so. For front carry, you snap the chest/shoulder strap behind you (between your shoulder blades). If you don’t have a lot of flexibility in your arms, that can be hard. But, there are two solutions:

    1. Loosen the shoulder/arm straps, which will give you a bit of slack and allow you to snap the horizontal strap at a higher point. You can then tighten the shoulder straps and it will go down your back. It may be hard to get undone, but you can loosen things and it will help.

    2. In the instructions, they clarify how you can do it up and then place it over your head. I haven’t tried this (because my way works for me) but it is an option.

My husband is so pleased to have something that is much simpler to place on than a Moby or wrap style carrier. I like that the baby does not hang by their crotch, and it’s comfortable to wear!

We also have a home-made wrap style carrier, which I like for if I am encouraging sleep, because you can just tuck the baby’s head in and they are cocooned. Because the baby’s head is more loose, the Ergo is much better for looking around and being out and about.

No back pain with this carrier!
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I LIKE my Ergo sport. I just spent a week on the beach and we used the Ergo everyday for hours at a time. I didn’t have any back pain! My daughter likes to be held, and at 23 pounds, this can be quite taxing on my 125 lb frame. But not with the Ergo! We used a Bjorn when my daughter was a couple of months ancient, but had to retire the carrier when she was about 12 pounds because I couldn’t use it for more than 20 minutes at a time.

The sport carrier also easily fits my husbands 6’3″ frame (I am 5’6″). It is also simple to place on and comfortable in the back and front positions. I haven’t tried the hip carry position yet. I have nothing negative to say about the Ergo. I only wish that I had learned it much sooner!

I bought this to carry our daughter in instead of using the stroller. I even got the waist extention sine the reviews said that men may need it since the belt was small. Well we tried it and it is really had for one person to place a baby in. Also we had a hard time fitting her in it and once she was on my husbands back he despised it. I reckon it’s a fantastic thought but either we need to work on how to use it or it just isn’t for us. Also it’s kinda pricey for all our problems.

I like this carrier. It’s simple to place on and adjust. I’m 5’7″ and my husband is 6’2″ and we both use the carrier and have no problems adjusting the straps back and forth. My daughter also likes the carrier and will hang out in it for hours.

I like the convenience of the using the carrier, especially at times when having a stroller is not practical. Grocery shopping or walking through a crowded mall is so much simpler.

This carrier is also “manly” enough for my husband to wear around. Something he never felt comfortable doing with our Moby wrap.

Fantastic carrier but not the simplest to place on
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My son has LOVED his Bjorn carrier since birth. As he is growing out of it but still likes it, and as it makes life for mom so simple, I went looking for a new carrier and found this. The price is not terrible for as much as we use a carrier, it folds down to nothing and is very soft for him. It does seem to place him in a strage position due to the fact that it is not as rigid of a seat as the Bjorn, but it does not seem to bother him. What does bother him is that he cannot face forward as he can in the Bjorn, but instead has to look around or at me, which means that he wants me to dance, sing, etc, where he was content to just look around from his Bjorn. The trade-off is that where walks in the Bjorn had gotten shorter because my shoulders were ready to give out, I could carry him for days in this, as it is more like a backpack for camping, in that all the weight is on your hips, not to mention that the straps are well padded.

I would not get this instead of the Bjorn, as this cannot be used until 15lbs, where the Bjorn can be used by 7 or 8 (if I remember correctly), not to mention, I felt much more secure with him in the Bjorn, but if you have a larger or older child that still likes to be carried, this is a fantastic option.

    Fantastic carrier for older babies
    Rating:4 out of 5 stars
Things I liked about this carrier:

*VERY comfortable for me and baby

    *Supports the baby’s weight well.

    *Attractive

*Three options for carrying the baby (front, back, and hip)

    *Washable

    Things I didn’t like:

*A small complicated to get situated (lots of clips, buckles, hooks, belts, etc.)

*You have to be a bit of a gymnast to get this on all by yourself. I still have to get help from someone else if I want to do the front carry.

    *A small pricy

    *Baby cannot face outward

Overall, I am pleased with this buy. I need something larger for my 8-mo. ancient who was busting out of his Baby Bjorn. This was the only thing I could really find other than a hiking backpack, which I didn’t want since I use this at church and the grocery store. I even tried my three year ancient in this and although he was heavier, it still worked well. I use this weekly and it is a fantastic way to have my small guy close and still be able to use my hands.

I’ve been using this carrier with the infant insert with my 7 week ancient son. It has a sturdy construction, soft material and doesn’t feel like its going to come apart after a few uses. I like the fact that the straps are all extra long since I have a rather large chest and my husbad, who wears it as well, can expand the srtaps on the waist. It can be a bit hard (but manageble) to reach behind your back to unclip the straps but it could be that I am just not that flexible. Otherwise a nice carrier.

I LIKE this carrier. My twins are over 2, and I have been using an Ergo, constantly since they were about 3 months. We use it in place of a double stroller, since space is an issue. I don’t own a car, so we do A LOT of running around with the ERGO!

I have used Bjorns and Hotslings, and can honestly say this is BY FAR the best!!! I do like the “Sport” version a bit more than the original; it’s more streamlined, less bulky, much cooler, lighter, and more washable. It’s a drag, though that they lost the zip pocket from the orig, which was always very handy.

    Pros-

Seats nearly ALL of baby’s weight on your hips, not your back and shoulders. I’ve worn my 20+lb son in it for 4-6 hours at a time, without pain or strain, no kidding.

    Fantastic for hiking!

Feels very secure, with baby snugged right up, no slipping around

    BRILLIANT, sturdy hardware

Easily adjustable, and stays adjusted… no fiddling.

Baby’s feet and legs don’t turn blue from hanging from his crotch(like the bjorn!)

Comfy, pleased baby falls asleep easily in carrier.

Versatile! Baby can be worn front or back, and can be carried from nearly groundbreaking new babe-bouncing, huge toddler, COMFORTABLY!

    Cons-

    Bulky

Pricey, but not much more than a Bjorn, if at all

    No zip pocket(Sport version)

Tough to get baby into back carry position without help, or a very compliant kid.

I have used the bjorn carrier for the last two years. I bought this carrier because I need a back carrier. I have two children 26 months and 12 months. The 12 month ancient I have carried in the bjorn until recentley when my back started hurting due to his weight. I looked for many different carriers. I had hoped this one would work. It is very hard to place on by yourself. It is hot. To place it on your baby has to be somewhat cooperative. I also tried it as a front carrier it was hard to hook the strap in the back. I am so disappointed because I like using carriers.

  20. Fresh Fish says:

Say NO to Bjorn and YES to Ergo
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We were going to buy the Bjorn. But, I read a review that discussed the problems of the ergonomics of the Bjorn. Specifically, the Bjorn keeps your baby in place by letting him hang by his/her crotch. Take a look at the pictures if you don’t believe me!

Well, the Ergo Carrier takes a much different approach. The Ergo holds the child by his/her bottom. The baby sits in the pouch and his legs hang over the sides. Makes sense, right? If your baby is a newborn, not to worry. You can still use this carrier. Place a blanket behind your baby’s head to support it. We didn’t buy the newborn attachment and the blanket works just fine.

Finally, here is the most vital feature of the carrier: the hip belt! This carrier is designed like a backpack to place the weight of your child on your hips instead of on your shoulders and neck. Look at the Bjorn–the baby hangs off your shoulders. I wouldn’t want to endure that all day!

Buck the trend and buy this one! You’ll be much more pleased!

Cobalt Carriers mistakenly sent us the incorrect item, which happens, but because they are such a tiny enterprise with hardly any customer service capabilities, it took 6 weeks for them to work out how to return the item and get us refunded; we were not able to do an exchange, only a lengthy return. Now the baby is 7 weeks ancient and we are just now getting our new carrier from another company…we couldn’t risk ordering from Cobalt again…but as for the carrier, it is brilliant. Best Baby Carrier- Hands Down
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We bought this carrier after a recommendation from a friend (parent of twins living in NYC). They highly recommended the Ergo as the most comfortable carrier for infants and toddlers. I tried a few others before buying, including the Bjorn, and chose the Ergo Sport. We’ve now had our Ergo for nearly 6 months, and anytime parents question me about it I give them my sales pitch. Here are my pros and cons:

    Pros:

-When worn correctly, it puts the weight of the baby on your hips instead of your shoulders and back. This allows for a longer period of wearing without sore shoulders and back. The thick padded shoulder straps are also nice, and the backpack-like structure distributes weight nicely in the front or back positions.

-Versatile. With 3 carrying positions and a weight range up to 40 pounds it will be the only carrier you need with an infant or toddler. I didn’t buy the infant insert, but found that by folding a blanket and using that as the infant insert my baby could sit comfortably. We also place him in sideways, with both feet out one side until he was huge enough to straddle comfortably. At 4-5 months we felt that he was huge enough to straddle and sit in the carrier without stretching his legs. He likes sitting so close to me while I do things around the house, as well as grocery shopping, sitting in the front position. We recently started putting it on our backs and he enjoys this also, as he can look around while we walk. I don’t prefer the hip position, because I feel like it throws my balance off, but the front and back positions are fantastic.

-My husband even offers to wear it, and it fits both of us well. It’s simple to adjust the straps to each individual.

-Being in the Texas heat, you are going to sweat no matter what carrier you use, but we’ve found the Ergo to breathe pretty well.

-The soft-shell form packs nicely into it’s small bag, and is really simple to stuff into a suitcase or bag for traveling.

-When it gets dirty, just throw it in the washer. My son likes to suck on the straps while he is in it, so this is nice. It’s also made of a very soft material- comfy for baby’s skin.

-The sleeping hood is adjustable to fit any height of child and works as a sunshade/privacy shade as well.

-Durable construction. Reinforced stitching at tension points ensures that it is safe and stable for your baby. I feel like it will last for many years.

-Our baby likes to be in it! The first few times he squirmed while I got it adjusted, but once he was settled he usually fell asleep within 30 mins. Now he is much more aware, but still can be lulled to sleep by the movement and security of being close to mom or dad. As mentioned before, he likes to suck on the straps and just looks very content when sitting in it.

    Cons:

-A small pricey, but worth the investment.

-The sleeping hood is tough to place on by yourself, if you are wearing the carrier. Usually my husband can help me attach it, but once or twice I’ve had to question someone else for help.

-It takes a few practices to feel comfortable putting the carrier on, and putting the baby in, without help. I practiced over the couch or bed until I felt sure of myself, and now it takes me less than a minute to place him in and adjust everything (no matter where I am). My husband, who wears it less often, always has me help him load our baby in. The instructional videos on the ergo website are extremely helpful in showing how to correctly position the baby and adjust the carrier.

-There is no zippered pocket on the Sport version for your keys or cell phone. I bought the small bag that attaches to the waistband and that works when we don’t want to bring the diaper bag along.

Overall, this is a fantastic product. We’re very satisfied with our buy. It is a fantastic baby carrier and a nice alternative when using a stroller isn’t convenient.

    My baby didn’t like it
    Rating:3 out of 5 stars
My daughter is nearly 4 months ancient and likes her slings, but is getting too heavy to carry in those with the pressure it place on my lower back. I got the Ergo for I because all the research I had done said it was the best for baby and mom’s back, plus I have friends who have one and like it. It is a bit complicated (you have to watch the videos on their website to place it on properly), but once on is quite comfortable for the adult, especially if you need lower back support. My distress was that my daughter didn’t like sitting it it. She’s pretty much forced to straddle me and face my chest (a position she’s not used to) and can’t see out, so she cried the whole time she was in it. The makers quote statistics that say it’s best for babies to not face out, to be able to turn away from certain stimuli, but not being able to see out at all bothered her. Since Amazon has a 30 day return policy, I couldn’t keep it to see if she might do better in it when she’s older and more flexible. My advice is wait to see if your baby is comfortable facing you constantly, wait until they’re a bit older, and perhaps try one on before purchasing it.

Saves your back! Better than Bjorn, worth the extra $
    Rating:5 out of 5 stars
We have a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and an Ergo Baby. The Ergo Baby is the one we use, the other two we donated to the salvation army.

The huge advantage the Ergo has is the waist strap. This shifts a significant amount of weight to your hips. Otherwise the entire weight is held on your shoulders, which gets to be quite uncomfortable after a while.

By putting the weight on your hips, the Ergo Baby makes it possible to carry a child who weighs more and for a longer period of time. I wish we’d found this with our first child, as it would have saved us money (for the other ones we bought) and our aching backs!!!!

There’s also a couple of pockets – one with a zipper. Excellent place to place your cell phone, wallet, etc. The Snugli had a pocket with snap, while the Bjorn had none. The Ergo is not as sleek and attractive as our navy blue Bjorn. Our Ergo was a gift and it came in a pale turquoise. I reckon the black Ergo looks better, but it’s still not as sleek and stylish as the Baby Bjorn. Frankly, after a few weeks of a newborn crying at all hours, looking hip comes way down the list after comfort, convenience and sleep…. Just saying…

The only complaint would be that it takes some practice to use the side carry and rear carry positions. The DVD does show how it’s done, but it really helps to have someone who is familiar with the process or have someone spotting you the first time you use it in these positions.

Best For You, Best For Your Baby

After reading many online reviews, asking other baby-wearers, and trying four other baby carriers, It is my opinion that the Ergo is the best carrier for my baby and for me. I will tell you what I like about the Ergo style in general, and then what I like specifically about the Ergo Sport, followed by the things I don’t like about the carrier. Finally I will talk about how I reckon my 7month-ancient daughter feels about the Ergo.

First, what I like about the Ergo in general: I like that the Ergo baby carrier puts most of the baby’s weight on your hips, making it much more comfortable to wear for long periods of time. It also has very nice padded shoulder straps. Next, I like that my baby is in a healthy seated position,(and as far as I can observe, she is also more comfortable.) I have read that carriers offering the front carry position (this one doesn’t) are not excellent for your baby, because instead of being seated, they are just kind of hanging from their crotch and that it puts too much pressure on their spine and hips. Versatility–I really appreciate that the Ergo offers three different carry positions: Back, Front, and Hip (your baby faces in toward you in each of these positions.) A excellent carrier should carry your baby like you would–close and high. This carrier does that. Also, the Ergo has a “sleep hood” which I can pull over my sleeping baby to keep her head from bouncing around. It can also provide privacy for your baby to nurse in the carrier if you choose. Lastly, because of how it is designed, you can carry heavier children in it (it’s rated for up to forty pounds), so you can use the same carrier for your baby, or your toddler. The Ergo is to be used only when a child can support his own head well, but there is an infant insert you can buy to use before that. I have not comment on the insert, as my daughter was 6 months when we got it, so we did no buy the insert.

I cannot compare the Ergo Sport to the original Ergo, because I have not tried the original, but these are the reasons I chose the Sport: First, it claims to be made of a more breathable material for more active and outdoor use–summer is coming, and my baby gets grouchy when she’s hot. Second. The straps are longer and I want a carrier that will fit my husband (who is a larger guy) as well as myself. I have not yet tested the breathability in hot weather and sunshine, but the carrier is VERY comfortable, and seems to be super-durable and well-made. I’m pleased with my choice.

These are the things I don’t really like about this carrier: It does take some practice to become excellent at getting your baby into and out of it. The back carry position has been particularly tough for me, but we are improving. Kind of along the same lines, some of the positions seem to place the straps and buckles kind of out of reach, so that I have to really strain to get everything all strapped and adjusted. I know I’m not as flexible as I used to be, but at thirty-two, it really seems like it shouldn’t be so tough. I’m confident that over time I will find what works best for my baby and for me, in getting her in and out of the different positions. Those are my only complaints, but I’m willing to live with them, because I don’t believe that the carrier could be made simpler to use, without making it less comfortable and safe. Also, I know that some will object to the price. I personally reckon that a excellent baby carrier is something worth investing in, and I feel like the Ergo’s price is justified by it’s high quality, comfort, and safety.

Finally, if my baby could tell you what she thinks about the Ergo Sport I reckon she would say something like this: “I like that I am more comfortable for longer, and that my mommy is more comfortable so she lets me stay in it for longer. I like that I can nurse while Mom is making dinner. I do wish that the Ergo would let me face out instead of always facing in. I am not yet tall enough to really see well over the straps of the Ergo, and I like to be able to look straight forward, see everthing, grab everything, and kick my legs. I reckon as I get taller I will like it more.”

The Bottom Line: Most baby wearing enthusiasts will tell you that they use different slings, wraps and carriers for different purposes, such as slings or wraps (like “Hot Slings” ring slings or the “Moby Wrap”) for newborns; and more structured carriers (like the Ergo) for older babies, longer outings or hands-free housework. The Ergo offers quality, comfort and safety for you and your small one, at what I consider a honest price. I would certainly say it’s a excellent choice in baby carriers.

It is everything I hoped for! I can adjust my baby’s weight in a way so that it all rests on my hips. She feels so relaxed in it to. I like that when she falls asleep in it I can just undo the back clips and lay her down in her crib. That’s the way carriers SHOULD be. ..very pleased with my buy.

    ERGO Sport Carrier = Wonderful

I was looking for a new carrier for my 14 mo ancient son as he was starting to outgrow his bjorn carrier and it was starting to hurt my shoulders and back carrying him in it. I found the ERGO sport carrier, read the reviews and although I hesitated at the price, it’s certainly worth it! This carrier will hold up to 40lbs! Now I can carry my son for longer periods when he needs me to as most of his weight is on my hips. The extra length in the straps was fantastic too (only comes on the sport, otherwise, you have to buy an extender) as I have yet to lose all the baby weight. :-P

I only give this product four stars as it was a bit confusing at first to figure out how to get the carrier on and him in it, but their website has helpful videos and now it’s a snap to get him in and out! I hope to use this carrier for the next child as well! I absolutely recommend this product!! Ergo Baby Sport Carrier

If you walk a lot and want to bring your baby this one is for you.

Some folks prefer front facing position when carrying in front of you, but this one does not do that. You have to use the rear carry position.

The key to this one is the fact that when properly worn, all the weight of the baby is on your hips, just like a excellent trecking backpack.

Other carriers leave your shoulders dead after an hour, but we can walk forever with this one. If you backpack and want to have the same technology that your pack has (aka waist belt) then this is for you.

    we like it!

    Pretty excellent, but not perfect.

I bought this based on a review on a Mommysite, and being a first time parent, I pretty much have to defer to others on all baby buys. The carrier is comfy and versatile, and honestly simple to use and get in and out of, but I rated it only two stars because it is only for use with the baby facing in to your chest when the baby is placed in the front. I opted for the Lillebaby instead, which is nearly identical, but affords you the facing out option.
