Proud Nana

I bought this carrier for my daughter when she gave birth to my precious granddaughter. It is perfect for their walks in the parks even as an infant just 5 weeks ancient. When traveling on the plane with an infant it serves as the best way for my daughter to be hands free while baby sleeps. The back support makes it more comfortable to be active for long periods of time. It was a fantastic buy and it was the best price by as much as 30 dollars.
Babybjorn baby carrier is a back saver…
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I own one of these, and I also bought one for my sister in law and her husband who just had their 1st baby. The Active offers back support which really makes a HUGE difference. If you are in doubt then next time when you visit Babies R Us check out and try on the floor models of the Baby Bjorn carriers. One thing to keep in mind is, if you live in a warm state then you might want to look at the the Synergy carrier which has a mesh material which would make it cooler (for the parent and the child) when using the carrier.
The BEST baby carrier
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this BabyBjorn as a gift for a friend, since I have used my own for the past 2.5 years and LIKE IT! I had a c-section with both my babies and found it too hard to carry the stroller and instead opted to use my baby carrier instead. I use it for EVERYTHING! Whether it’s keeping the baby silent while I make supper or do errands to traveling to doctor appointments by bus. It is so light, so comfortable and fits so well, when you take the time to properly adjust the straps. It is the best baby carrier on the market. My baby is already one (weighing 22lbs) and I still use it and we both delight in it!
Simple to get around
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
At first it was hard to figure out how to use it but once I got the hang of it I use it all the time. Where ever I go my baby goes and baby doesn’t mind it as long as I am walking around. I am so glad to finally get things done and baby is pleased.
Fantastic for traveling

We used this carrier recently on baby’s first trip via airplane. It was fantastic carrying him around in the airport and having my hands free for luggage and other stuff. The carrier is sturdy and comfortable. I was able to sit on the plane with him strapped in asleep, which was nice. We used the carrier with him facing him forward as well. The nice bonus with this carrier, and I suspect with other carriers, too, is that you don’t have to take him out of it when you go through the metal detector at the airport security gate, since the carrier has no metal parts. This is especially wonderful if your baby is already asleep and you don’t want to disturb him/her just to get through security.
The only downside with the carrier that we’ve found is that it’s pretty hard to adjust it for various baby sizes. The carrier did not hurt my back at all, and I’m honestly petite with an average-size baby.
Get an Ergo or Beco instead!!
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
I bought this when I was expecting my first. I was naive like so many other new moms. I despised it. It was uncomfortable and I despised that my daughter was dangling in it. I later learned that this was not excellent for her spine b/c all her weight was on it rather than her butt.
I did some research and found the Ergo. We loved it! She sat on her butt in it and it was much more comfortable. It has a hip belt that helps distribute the baby’s weight. The weight limit is much higher (probably over 35 lbs) and you can wear it on your back. I wore her in the Ergo until she was well past 2 years ancient.
For the price, the Bjorn a waste of money b/c you can’t use it for as long as you can other carriers. We now have a Beco as well, which enables you to secure the baby in the carrier before putting it on, which is helpful with a back carry. We use the Ergo and Beco interchangeably. I certainly recommend going against what is typically in the stores and research what is out there. I have over a dozen different carriers, slings, wraps, etc. I use most of them for different situations. The only one that I never use is the Bjorn. I know there are a lot of people that like it, but I strongly recommend looking into other options that will last longer, save your back, and allow your baby to sit properly will being babyworn.

It works very excellent. I like it. But it supports small baby only. I would hope it supports larger baby.
Babybjörn Carrier Active
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
I bought this product for my husband… also ordered a hotsling but my husband and I have a huge size difference so we can’t share one sling… And he honestly told me that he would prefer Babybjörn… Soon as I received the item, I studied it and thought to myself that it would really be something for me too since it’s very flexible and very well adjustable! It’s a very excellent buy!!!
Much better for the back
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
My baby is now 20 pounds and my back can’t take carrying her in the original anymore – even a small trip to the grocery store was getting too much. The lumbar support makes a huge difference (for some reason for my upper back mostly), but still a bit sore in the traps on long walks. She likes it, and the front flap stays down fantastic, in contrast to what another reviewer said. I did notice I have to tighten it quite a bit for the back support to work, but don’t even notice it once we get going. I am 5’7 and 140 if that makes a difference.
Fantastic baby carrier
Rating:5 out of 5 stars
This is a fantastic carrier when your baby is small, and it seems comfortable for the small ones as well. After my twins hit about 27 pounds, I switched to the Ergo carrier, which I like a lot too. The Ergo can be used as a front or back pack. The Bjorn is fantastic for when they are under 27 pounds, and it leaves your hands free to shop, etc. I highly recommend it.

I bought this item when my daughter was born, and now cannot imagine our life without it! She stops crying as soon as she is in the carrier as she likes to be carried upright and we use it daily to soothe her when she is crying AND when we go out. So simple to use and I like color too. Would certainly recommend it to any new parent!!
Can you believe it’s made in China???
Rating:1 out of 5 stars
This is my second Bjorn. I can’t believe I thought this was a Swedish product. Talk about fake advertising. My poor baby has licked so much of this….how dreadful! We have really tried to rid our home of made in China baby products. It’s not simple.
I reckon it’s really shameful that Bjorn pretends it’s a Swedish product. Imagine the stout margins on this product!! It’s about the same price it was 10 years ago when it was made in Sweden.
By the way, my son is 18 lbs and after 20 minutes or so, this carrier hurts.
a must have!!!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This has saved me so many times. Have you ever been home alone and your small one will not let you place them down so you can do some essentials around the house???? This has been a lifesaver for those situations. I have been able to water my plants, fold laundry (takes a bit more time when he grabs the clothes I’m folding), make dinner, clean bottles, etc. The key is to start them early so they get use to being in the carrier. My son has never had an issue with being in it, he really likes it b/c I reckon he feels like he can see more and be apart of what is going on. I’m not sure if the back support really supports your back, it doesn’t seem any different than others I have tried.
Better than “Original” but not by much…
Rating:3 out of 5 stars
Over the course of three children we have had FIVE carriers: Two slings, a Baby Bjorn, a Snugli and the Ergo Baby.
The Bjorn is certainly the best looking and simplest to use. The clips and connectors are very intuitive and it’s simple to get smaller infants into it.
My huge complaint is that when the kids get larger (or if you wear it for more than 20 minutes at a time) it really starts to kill your back. This is because the design keeps all the weight on your shoulders. It’s like wearing a backpack BACKWARDS!
The “Active” version has wider straps and a which provide additional support for a small improvement over the “Original,” but it still puts all the weight on your shoulders, pulling them forward. The additional strap is still too high to place the weight on your hips.
If you backpack, you know what I’m talking about. A lightweight daypack is fine for lugging 20 lbs of textbooks from class to class, but if you want to be able to hike for an hour with 40 lbs you have to shift the weight from your shoulders to your hips.
If you only plot to use this when grocery shopping and reckon you’ll give it up when they’re 6 months ancient, this might be for you. If you reckon you might want to go to the park and hang out, or use it even when the kid starts to crawl, then the Ergo Baby is probably more your speed.
p.s. this is coming from a guy who is 6′, 180# and fit. My wife is smaller and far more critical of the ergonomics of this carrier.

Best of the best

Without this baby carrier I dont know what I would do. With a very active 2 year ancient, and a nine month ancient, it can be hard. But the baby bjorn lets me have my 9 mo securely attached to me while allowing my hands to be free to catch my 2 year ancient when needed. Although twice as much as the Infantino brand, I reckon it is well worth it. The infantino carrier was very uncomfortable, and my daughter was always riding low – not so with the baby bjorn
Not Different Enough
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
I bought this carrier hoping for some additional back support. My daughter likes being in the original Baby Bjorn, but I can only handle it for so long. I wanted to find a carrier that she loved equally but that gave me some extra support. This carrier did not achieve that goal. I finished up returning it.
This carrier is simply not that different from the original. I really do like the original one, and I switch off using that with another carrier (the AWESOME Sleepy Wrap Sleepy Wrap Baby Wrap Carrier -Gray, also available on Amazon). We are now also experimenting with the Ergo.
Fantastic product
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The only thing I would change was I wish the shoulder straps were a small padded, they tend to press into my collarbone and it gets sore when I where it for long periods. That is the reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars. Other than that, I LIKE it! The back support is fantastic and I can where it much longer than any other carrier I have had before. My baby is now 10 months ancient and I still place him in it all the time, he likes it. It is so simple to take on and off and even lay him down if he falls asleep.
Do not buy it!
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
We used the carrier only as long as the baby was under approx. 6 kg, and even in that time it was not really confortable. When our son got larger we was hanging to low in the carrier, nearly up to our knies, and for us it was very painful to carry him because of a presure on our shoulders. Besides, it is not healty for the baby to be carried like that: in the babybjörn the baby is not sitting properly, the hips are not at the 90degrees angle, how they should be, but the legs are hanging nearly straight down, which is really terrible! And it is even worse for the hipps to carry the child looking in front, I just do not know why people are still doing it! Do not buy a babybjörn, there are some much better products than that carrier, like e.g. from ErgoBaby – we are still carrying our son in it for hours and he weights 12kg now!
Ridiculous design, ridiculous price…

In the interest of full disclosure, I just spent the better part of an hour trying to cool my daughter (for the second time) after putting her in this carrier. That being said, I’ll try to be as objective as possible.
First the pros, this carrier does hold her close to my chest in an upright position. Our daughter normally likes this position; but, I can tell she’s being crushed by this design, and it’s nearly impossible to adjust properly. Sure, there are a plethora of straps and buckles to mess with, but inevitably, positioning is based on a single, loose sliding buckle attached to the back straps, which is the same part that caused the original RECALL. Because there is no way to lock this buckle down, as we go around, the carrier sinks lower and lower in the front making her even more uncomfortable. Additionally, the only way to slow down this process is to crank the straps down, which severely inhibits my ability to breath regularly. My current “solution” is to attach two binder clips to the back straps, just below the buckle, but this is a seriously jury rigged solution, and for $100+ retail, one would reckon they would have used a buckle that latches.
To add to her discomfort, the head support for a newborn is ridiculously tight, and she can barely go her head from side to side, so her chin is crammed into my chest. Who wants to sleep like that?
At any rate, I wouldn’t even consider buying any version without the lumbar support, as those will wear out your back in about 10 minutes (we tested this in-store). As it stands, it’s a pretty rough ride, even with lumbar support.
In small, unless you like flushing money, a screaming baby, and crushed ribs, I’d look into a Mei Tai style carrier, such as the KOZY CARRIER for half the price. If you really want crushed ribs and such, you can always get an original Evenflo Snugli® Classic Carrier – Khaki for nearly 1/10th the retail price of this one, seriously.
Durable and convenient

This baby carrier is simple to use and trendy. But, despite the extra back support of the Active version, I couldn’t carry my daughter for more than 30 minutes because my shoulders would start hurting really terrible (and my daughter was a very light baby). But my husdand found it very comfortable, though.
Baby Bjorn
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
This product works better if your baby is a small older, when he is too young his head bounced around alot and so you have to use one hand to support it.
Now he is 4 months and likes to be in it facing out.
Less than 15lbs.

I bought the Bjorn Active and it was fantastic. But when my son reached 15lbs and up it became uncomfortable and painful to wear. Finally when he hit 20lbs we went with the Ergo which is a lifesaver! The Bjorn was nice because it kept my son close to my body and when he could hold his head up he loved facing forward. Again, it was fine at first but it was a bit expensive. There are tons of baby carriers and slings that are worth looking into.
Certainly not for me
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
This is the ONLY item I really bought when I was pregnant, as opposed to receiving it as a gift. I thought it was a must-have, and the best of the best, so I spent $119 on it. It was ok while my baby was just weeks ancient, but once he was 10 and 12 pounds, I couldn’t walk more than a couple blocks without very terrible lower back pain. I’m average weight and height, but this carrier was very painful.
My husband wears it occasionally because the baby can face forward, which the baby likes, but I don’t wear it any more. I bought another model that places more weight on your hips.

This carrier is really nice. My son prefers to be held upright rather than in a lying down position so it certainly is convenient for me. I like the convenience it provides.
Much better carriers out there
Rating:2 out of 5 stars
Baby Bjorn was the pioneer for baby carriers 10 years ago but since then there has been an explosion in the market – slings, front carriers, pouches, etc. The BEST, in my honest opinion, is the Ergo. The baby sits with right posture (The Bjorn is not so fantastic for the baby’s spine) and the parent is not in pain! I can walk for hours with my 20 lb baby in the Ergo — not so in the Bjorn.
A must have!
Rating:4 out of 5 stars
The “active” version with ,lumbar support is definately superior to the other Bjorns. I use this for hours at a time for everything from housework to shopping to walks and my daugher likes it. It is well constructed and made with durable and heavey duty fabric. It also washes easily (but fades a bit). I am petite and it provides excellent supprort (she is now 18 lbs). We also have the black and white Bjorn without the lumbar support and my upper back and shoulders tire much quicker. The only thing that is terrible about this product is the price – buy this online or at a second hand store if possible (they are usually more than half the retail price and never too worn out since they are so durable). This is a must have for newborns and infants.
Fantastic carrier

The baby bjorn carrier is pretty comfortable to carry your baby around in. It’s nice that it’s adjustable for the parent and baby. I get a bit sore after an hour lugging my daughter in, but how could you not be sore or tired for lugging a baby??? Babies aren’t exactly light!
